Amy Lawrence

Hi! My name is Amy, and I recently joined the WCA team in November 2022. I am originally from Sarnia, Ontario and have been an Early Childhood Educator since graduating from Lambton College in 2001. I truly enjoy working with children and families, and I’m excited to continue that work here at Woodstock Christian Academy.

As I already mentioned, I am originally from Sarnia, Ontario, where I was born and raised. I have been married to my wonderful husband since June of 2003, and we moved to New Brunswick with our two sons and our dog in June of 2021. It has been a bit of an adjustment moving from a city of 80,000 people to such a rural province, but everyone seems to be loving life in NB and that makes my heart very happy.

My family and I love spending time outdoors. We really enjoy going for hikes and exploring new places together. One of my family’s favourite outdoor activities is throwing knives and tomahawks. That’s right, we like to throw sharp things, but only at targets! We have actually all thrown in competitions against other throwers from around the world, and my husband has even been ranked in the professional division for both disciplines. I know this sounds a little crazy, but it’s a lot of fun and has been a great bonding experience for my family.

Something else that’s important to me is that in addition to my career as an ECE, I also own and operate a tie dye t-shirt business that I started in July of 2020. Running a business has been a huge learning curve for me. I’m learning lots, though, and have really enjoyed being able to express my creativity through tie dye and share it with others.

Another way I like to express my creative side is through photography. I love capturing snaps of my family making memories, but my favourite photo subject is nature. I’ve been known to disappear with my camera into the woods for hours and come out with dirt on my knees and twigs in my hair from crawling around, trying to capture the best angle of a mushroom or bug or something. I can’t help myself, Mother Nature is just so amazing and I see beauty in all of it.
Anyways, that’s me in a nutshell! I hope you enjoyed learning a little about me and my family. I know I am really looking forward to getting to better know all the amazing staff, children and families here at WCA.
